Two Fullerton, CA police officers are set to stand trial for the fatal beating of a homeless man with a mental illness. The charges are involuntary manslaughter, excessive force and second-degree murder. The largest factor in question is who or what was actually responsible for the death. The coroner stated that it is likely that the death came when the two officers piled on top of the man, which cut off his oxygen supply. The man was put on life support but died several days later from brain death and blunt force trauma. The defense has a different story. They claim that poor medical treatment was the cause or at least played a role in the death. Whether or not excessive force was used remains to be seen. These are incredibly serious charges which require the defense of a skilled Los Angeles criminal defense lawyer.
